Dental Implants: How It Works
Dental Implants in Tempe, AZ
All-on-4 Dental Implants and Other Solutions
Healthy smiles aren’t just beaming and radiant – they impact your confidence and quality of life. Your teeth play a huge role in keeping your jaw in place, and shifting is a significant issue for those with multiple missing teeth. Unlike traditional dentures, our dental implants are secured into the jawbone, providing a stable and permanent solution that looks and feels like your natural teeth. There are several types of dental implants, including:
- Single Tooth Implants: Ideal for patients missing a single tooth, this type involves placing one implant and attaching a crown.
- Multiple Tooth Implants: If you have multiple missing teeth, implants can be placed to support bridges or individual crowns.
- All-on-4 Dental Implants: This method involves placing four to six implants in each jaw to support an entire arch of replacement teeth.
- Implant-Supported Dentures: For those who wear dentures, implants can provide additional stability, preventing slippage and discomfort.

What to Expect from the Dental Implant Procedure
- Initial Consultation: We can't begin placing a dental implant until we are sure you are a good fit. Our comprehensive consultation assesses your oral health by taking X-rays, performing a physical examination, and determining your jawbone strength.
- Pre-Implant Procedures: Sometimes, we have to perform bone grafts or sinus lifts to ensure you have enough bone to support your new implants. While these procedures make the process take longer, they are essential.
- Implant Placement: The next step is placing the implant in the jawbone. We use local anesthesia or sedation during the procedure. Afterward, we leave the implant alone to integrate with the bone, which can take several months.
- Abutment Placement: After the implant has fully integrated, we can place an abutment on your implant, which acts as a connector between the implant and crown, bridge, or denture. All options are natural-looking.
- Crown or Prosthesis Placement: The final step is attaching the custom-made crown & bridge, or denture to the abutment.
